Padel and Polo in Barcelona
As the venue for the 1992 Olympics, Barcelona is home to numerous sporting events. I’d like to introduce you to one of my favourite sporting venues-Real Club de Polo de Barcelona.
Polo has a reputation as a ‘sport of kings’ but the Real Club de Polo is an accessible venue with great facilities and exciting events. The club hosts international polo and padel competitions. The club was founded in 1897 by a group of proactive polo players. Five years later the city celebrated the first equestrian event. Later they added tennis and hockey clubs and now they have a very active padel club.
Padel is an emerging sport in Spain and the Real Club de Polo is a hotbed of padel events.
Yesterday I went along to the finals of the 11th International Padel Championships of Cataluña.
This is the winning point from the Padel Championship finals:

What to do if you lose your credit card in Spain
The other day i was in the city with my British friend when he lost his credit card. I want to give you some advice about what to do if this happens to you.
1) Phone Visa or Mastercard company. The number phone is in your Spanish bank or displayed on the cash machine.
2) Block the old credit card. Useful sentence: -Buenos dias, he perdido mi tarjeta puede bloquearla, por favor? (Hello, I’ve lost my credit card, could you block it for me please?). They will ask you some questions to identify yourself like your passport number or NIE number.
3) Check with the bank if there have been any unauthorised transactions. And if there are, ask the bank to block them. Another useful sentence: -Por favor puede bloquear los movimientos realizados desde hoy? (Please could you block all unauthorised transactions from today?)
4) Give your bank an address where you want to receive the new credit card.
Good luck!

How to deal with car accidents in Spain
Yesterday I was in a small car accident coming back to Barcelona from Sitges. It was the first time in my life because I am a good driver and of course it wasn’t my fault. 🙂
Anyway I thought I’d share some tips on what to do if you are involved in a car accident here in Spain.
1) Call the police and if necessary an ambulance on 112.
2) While the police are on their way, try to agree the details of the accident with the other driver and fill in the “parte amistoso/parte de accidente” document. The insurance company provides you with this when you take out an insurance policy.
3) Try to wait until the police arrive. This is very important for safety and legal reasons. It is necessary to have car insurance. You have 7 days to notify your insurance company of accident.
5) Best free Hospitals in Barcelona: Hospital Clinico, Vall D’Hebron, Sant Joan de Deu. In Spain you have free High Quality Hospitals. It doesn’t matter where you come from- they will treat you.
6) If they dont speak English ask for somebody who can give you information- this is the sentence you need:
-Hola, no hablo español, por favor puede ayudarme alguien que hable mi idioma?
Being an English speaker in Barcelona is not a problem- most of us can understand you.
Good luck! 😉

Barcelona- Home of Champions 2009
FC Barcelona took home the Champions League cup in the final against Manchester United on Wednesday, and performed a victory parade around the city.
Photographer Tom Hayton captured the spirit and culture of the celebration with this image of a boy wrapped in the club’s flag.
